What happens after you apply
A short call to walk through the expedition.
This is a women-only departure.
It follows the same route, terrain, and standards as our co-ed Colombia expedition. This limited departure is offered in response to demand, and because this expedition format benefits from a single, sustained group moving together through the route.
Nothing else changes.
Two disciplines. One expedition.
Each day offers an Expedition Run and Expedition Trek route, allowing participants to choose the experience that best fits them. The two groups share mornings, evenings, meals, and the broader journey, moving through the same region at different distances and paces.
Movement is the experience.
Each day begins where the previous one ended. You move through the landscape under your own power, watching the terrain, climate, and communities change as the journey unfolds.
A real challenge, grounded in human connection.
Heat, humidity, elevation, and long days on foot make this a meaningful physical undertaking. But the experience is about much more than endurance. It is also shaped by the warmth of the people, the rhythm of daily life, and the shared moments that emerge along the way.

Access through relationships, not tourism.
Our Colombian team brings deep knowledge of the region and longstanding relationships with the people who live along the route. Local meals, family-run stays, and everyday encounters create an experience that feels personal, grounded, and connected to place.
Comfort where it matters.
The expedition begins at a boutique hotel in Medellín and finishes at a peaceful lakeside resort in Guatapé. Between them, accommodations are simpler and chosen for their location, character, and connection to the journey. Throughout, we make sure you are well fed, well supported, and able to recover for the day ahead.
Remote, with experienced support.
A professional expedition team supports the journey with thoughtful route planning, deep local knowledge, regular support points, and Overwatch x Rescue oversight. This allows us to travel through genuinely remote terrain with sound judgment and well-developed safety protocols.
Fitness & Experience
Designed for experienced runners and confident hikers. You do not need to be elite, but you should be comfortable with long days on your feet, varied terrain, and sections of off-trail travel. We will help you understand what to expect and how to prepare.
Terrain & Conditions
Expect steep climbs, muddy jungle trails, rocky mule paths, river crossings, wooden footbridges, and occasional off-trail travel. Weather is variable, with heat and humidity at lower elevations, cooler nights at higher altitudes, and periods of sun or rain.
Typical Days
Movement days are long and immersive, with regular support points and opportunities to refuel and regroup. Evenings are relaxed and focused on good food, recovery, and time together. Depending on the route and the day, expect approximately six to ten hours on foot.
What You Carry
You carry only what you need during the day, including hydration, nutrition, layers, and personal safety gear. The support team transports your larger bag and manages the rest.
Group Size
Groups are intentionally small. This allows for more personal support and stronger connection, while helping us move through remote landscapes and local communities with care. Smaller groups are easier for local hosts to welcome, create less pressure on trails and places, and keep the experience personal.
Day 1 Arrival in Medellín
Arrive in Medellín and transfer to our boutique hotel. Settle in, explore at your own pace, and prepare for the expedition ahead. Accommodation is included tonight. Dinner is at your leisure since arrival times vary.
Day 2 Preparation & Orientation
Enjoy a relaxed morning and explore Medellín at your own pace. We gather for a local lunch, review the route, and walk through maps, equipment, and logistics before a special group dinner.
Day 3 Ascent to the Heights
Transfer to the start and begin the climb into the higher, cooler landscapes of Antioquia. The route follows ancient trails toward a mountain town, where we arrive for local lodging and a shared dinner.
Day 4 Bridge to Gold
Follow historic mule trails once used to move gold and goods through the mountains of Antioquia. The route passes through old villages and landscapes shaped by centuries of travel, trade, and local life.
Day 5 The Path to the Lake
The longest and most remote day of the expedition. We move deeper into the mountains, following the path toward the cooler, higher elevation landscape surrounding Lake Guatapé. It is a significant day on foot, ending with our arrival at a remote lakeside lodge.
Day 6 The Last Push
The final day of movement follows the lake toward our finish on the shores of Guatapé. We arrive at the lake resort with time to recover before gathering for a closing dinner.
Day 7 Recovery and Decompression
A final day to rest and recover at the lake resort. Breakfast and lunch are included. Dinner is at your leisure to accommodate individual departure schedules. Transfer to the airport in the late afternoon for an evening flight, or stay at an optional airport hotel for departure the following day.
