The expedition begins in Colombia’s historic railway region, passing through Cisneros before climbing along a river and into cool mountain air. The day closes in Santo Domingo, a colonial town where plaza life brings authentic Antioquian charm.
At first light, the trail follows one of Antioquia’s oldest routes across ridges, meadows, rivers, and the storied Purgatorio Bridge. Midday brings a stop in Alejandría, before rolling hills descend toward Guatapé Lake. The stage stretches into night, offering the rare calm of moving beneath a star-filled sky.
A speedboat ride carries you across Guatapé’s vast lake, a labyrinth of green islands. Remote trails and waterfalls lead to the finish at an eco-boutique hotel, where celebration, fresh food, and the satisfaction of a true expedition await.
