Santiago López is the founder and director of Proyecto Aventura, and one of the leading figures in the Adventure Racing World Series. Renowned for his visionary leadership and unmatched execution, he has organized over 200 outdoor events across two decades, helping shape Ecuador into a global hub for adventure racing and trail sports.
Santiago's flagship race, Huairasinchi, is the country’s most iconic expedition event and has been selected to host the Adventure Racing World Championship twice—in 2014 and again in 2024—placing it among the most respected races in the international series. Santiago is also the race director for Quito Trail by UTMB, the first UTMB-branded trail race in Ecuador, further cementing his impact on the country’s endurance sport culture.
