Charles grew up in the Jura region of French-speaking Switzerland. An international-level downhill ski racer, accomplished mountaineer, passionate cyclist, and seasoned adventure racer with over two decades of experience competing globally, Charles has spent his life pursuing challenges, both on the trails and in the wild. His relentless drive for exploration and adventure has shaped his personal and professional journey.
Charles discovered adventure racing in 2000, founding and captaining Team Rady’s Switzerland for 15 years. After moving to the United States, he joined Team Bones Adventure Racing in 2015, continuing his legacy of competing in the world’s most prestigious expedition races – Eco-Challenge, the Adventure Race World Series & Championship, and Primal Quest – with over 20 expedition-style races on almost every continent.
Professionally, Charles brings a unique background to Terra Venture, transitioning from engineering to project management to graphic design. He has worked with startups, iconic brands, and global corporations, building a wealth of experience that complements his leadership in the field.
Now based in Bend, Oregon, Charles lives with his wife, MK, their blended family of three boys, and a very fluffy dog. Whether crafting transformative journeys for Terra Venture or seeking his next adventure, Charles brings passion, resilience, and a deep understanding of the power of exploration to everything he does.
Roy is a skilled whitewater guide and a 24-year veteran of international expedition competitions, Roy has raced in the most prestigious events, including Eco-Challenge, the Adventure Race World Series & Championship, and Primal Quest. As the founder and captain of Team Bones Adventure Racing, he has led his team to compete on every continent, achieving numerous podiums and earning a reputation for fostering great energy and camaraderie. Known for leading with a good heart and a healthy attitude toward competition and community, Roy’s leadership is the soul of Team Bones.
Roy brings a unique blend of executive leadership and adventure expertise to Terra Venture. With 25 years as a C-Suite financial services executive and a corporate trainer for Fortune 500 companies, Roy has honed his skills in leadership, strategy, and team development.
Roy lives in El Dorado Hills, California, with his wife, their four children, and two adventure-loving Vizslas. Whether in the boardroom or the wild, Roy exemplifies resilience, teamwork, and the pursuit of purpose, making him an integral part of Terra Venture’s mission to inspire transformative journeys.
Juan is an accomplished entrepreneur and seasoned adventure racer with over 20 years of experience. Based in Medellín, Colombia, he has competed in several Adventure Race World Series & Championships. He is the founder and director of PC-12, one of the most respected races in the Adventure Racing World Series. His races are consistently ranked among the best in the series, attracting top international teams and setting the standard for race organization worldwide. Beyond competition, Juan has led complex corporate adventure programs, including recent experiences for Colombia’s largest newspaper, El Tiempo.
Married to Paula and father to Matias and Tomas, Juan’s passions extend to road cycling, adventure sports, and outdoor exploration. His deep connection to nature and trees fuels his work and inspires his philosophy: “Serving others is our reason for being.”
As Terra Venture’s boots on the ground in Colombia, Juan and his team brings unparalleled expertise. He is deeply embedded in Colombia’s outdoor and endurance sport culture. His influence, reputation, and relationships open access to extraordinary terrain and people, making him an essential force in shaping Colombia into a world-class adventure destination.
Santiago is the founder and director of Proyecto Aventura, and one of the leading figures in the Adventure Racing World Series. Renowned for his visionary leadership and unmatched execution, he has organized over 200 outdoor events across two decades, helping shape Ecuador into a global hub for adventure racing and trail sports. His flagship race, Huairasinchi, is the country’s most iconic expedition event and has been selected to host the Adventure Racing World Championship twice – in 2014 and again in 2024 – placing it among the most respected races in the international series.
Santiago is also the race director for Quito Trail by UTMB, the first UTMB-branded trail race in Ecuador, further cementing his impact on the country’s endurance sport culture. With a background in international relations, psychology, and project management, Santiago combines strategic vision with deep passion for nature, sport, and transformation. His work has inspired thousands and continues to elevate Ecuador as one of the most dynamic destinations in Terra Venture’s global network.
For over two decades, Jen Segger has competed at the highest levels of endurance sports, racing with Team Bones and Team Expedition Canada. With multiple West Coast FKT (Fastest Known Time) records to her name, Jen thrives on the challenge of exploring untamed, awe-inspiring places through ultra trail running, adventure racing, and mountain expeditions. She chooses her races not for the competition alone, but for the incredible locations they allow her to discover.
Jen’s passion for adventure extends beyond competition. As an ACMG Assistant Guide, she leads multi-day trail running and fastpacking expeditions across British Columbia, Alberta, and Northern Canada. When time permits, she teams up with her husband to guide stand-up paddleboard (SUP) trips, combining her love of the outdoors with her expertise in leading transformative experiences.
As Terra Venture’s Head Coach, Jen brings unmatched experience and dedication to our coaching programs. Over the last 20 years, she has worked with athletes from all walks of life – elite ultramarathoners, Mt. Everest climbers, and first-time adventure racers – helping them achieve their goals. Known for her ability to embrace individuals of all fitness levels, backgrounds, and time constraints, Jen tailors each program to unlock her athletes’ full potential. She also holds multiple international coaching certifications, further cementing her reputation as a leader in the field.
Born and raised in Duncan, BC, on Vancouver Island, Jen spent 20 years living in Squamish to pursue her athletic career amidst the mountains. She has since returned to Cumberland, BC, to raise her family and embrace the natural beauty of the area. A devoted mother to an adventurous son, Jen enjoys spending time with her family and dog. She is also working toward earning her private pilot’s license. With her wealth of expertise, adventurous spirit, and passion for helping others, Jen is an integral part of Terra Venture’s mission to inspire transformation through challenge.
